How To - Setting Up Email in Outlook 2003

Applies to: Hosted email (both Windows Hosting and Linux Hosting platforms)

In most cases you will want to configure Outlook 2003 to download your messages onto a single computer. When you download your messages in this manner, they are subsequently removed from the mail server when the download is complete.

Important Note: If you're a Linux Hosting customer, you must use "mail.yourdomain", (not mail.servupro.com).

Configuring a New Account

From the Tools Menu, choose Email Accounts.

  1. Under E-mail, choose "Add a new e-mail account" and press Next.
  2. Select POP3 and press Next.
  3. Under User Information, enter your name and email address.
  4. Under Logon Information, enter your email address and password.
  5. Under Server Information, enter "mail.servupro.com" in both boxes (without the quotes). Note: You may also enter mail.yourdomain if you wish.
  6. Click More Settings.
  7. Under the General tab, the first box is for a description of this email account. You can put anything you wish here.
  8. If you would like the name of your company inserted into the header of outgoing messages, enter it in the Organization box.
  9. If you would like people to reply to your messages and direct them to a different address, enter the other address in the Reply E-Mail box.
  10. Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
  11. Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Click Finish.
